Beaches
The most renowned Beaches on the Island are easily reachable from the Villa, whether on foot or using the efficient and continuous Bus and microbus service.
- Chiaia, ideal for families with children: distance 350 metres
Excursions
We recommend the splendid excursions around the island, and those for Capri, Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, Naples, Vesuvio, Ponza and Ventotene.
Sant'Angelo
Sant'Angelo, an ancient fishing village, visitable only on foot, a calm and tranquil place and renowned international tourist centre. Visitors who venture here are rewarded with spectacular sights, with houses clinging like oysters to the small hillside overlooking the port, and tiny narrow streets climbing up and looking out like flowery balconies among modern hotels and coloured houses.
Exclusive designer boutiques, refined jewellery shops, art studios, and crafts products including the famous ceramics, provide an irresistible shopping experience.
The Thermal Gardens
Among the main touristic attractions on the island, Ischia’s thermal parks are the ideal place to enjoy the sun and view, while swimming or relaxing in the thermal water pools, or taking in a beauty treatment. These complexes are situated in the vicinity of the beaches, and feature thermal seawater pools, a beauty farm, bar and restaurants, responding to every need for entertainment and treatment.
From the Villa, the renowned Poseidon thermal parks (link), among the most beautiful anywhere in the world, can be reached either on foot or by bus.
Giardini Poseidon
With its characteristic streets, the town’s historic centre is its soul, and is only 100 metres from the Villa. You’ll find typical cafés and bars, pizzerias and restaurants with local products.
Sports
Tennis, beach-volley, scuba-diving, sailing, bicycling, riding and other sports.
Music
In addition to the cafés and bars offering live music, concerts of pop and classical music are also organised on the island. Concerts are held at the Giardini La Mortella Villa Arbusto, Castello Aragonese, and at times in the churches.
Villa La Mortella
Covering an overall surface area of some 20,000 sq metres, the garden features over 1000 species of rare plants and, together with Villa Cimbrone in Ravello and the gardens at the Reggia di Caserta, is a mandatory stop for anyone visiting the region of Campania.
A welcoming bar is nestled half way up the hillside, where patrons can savour a rich cup of tea or cappuccino in total tranquillity, accompanied by the music of the Maestro. In another corner of the garden is the Thai Room, a place designed for Thai meditation, a pleasant stop for visitors taking in the sight of the lotus flowers.
The museum conserves a beautiful collection of images created by the great artist and photographer Cecil Beaton, who crossed all of the avant-garde trends of the last century.
Villa La Colombaia
Where 500 metres of marine depths once separated the surface of the sea from the abyss below, one of the many upheavals of nature, capable of lifting mountains out from the waves, the island of Ischia came to life, and attached to it a shoal of strong volcanic rock, a little island in the middle of the sea: "Ischia Minore." It is certainly one of Italy’s most ancient and distinctive castles. Guarding and defending the city of Naples, on many occasions it has provided a safe haven for those seeking refuge in moments of need. Further Information
